The park abounds with small game and animals such as grysbok, mongoose, baboons, bushbuck and cape clawless otter as well as several species of snake. Over sixty-five bird species have been noted on the reserve including loerie, herons, falcons, crowned eagles, spotted eagle owls, giant kingfishers, sunbirds and cormorants. A network of walking paths allows you to explore the area for yourself.

Plettenberg Park has an outstanding coastline which is an excellent platform from which to view the humpback whales that visit this stretch of ocean in winter, as well as the numerous schools of dolphin that are playful residents all year round.

Plettenberg Park offers the best high quality trail horse ride in South Africa along coastal fynbos trials and through the indigenous forests of Harkerville by qualified instructors from the famous Plettenberg Equestrian Academy. We also offer trout fishing at the Academy's private lake.

Relax in the sun at our cove beach situated below the hotel, or spend the day around the hotel swimming pool whilst savoring all the amenities on offer.
Boat trips can be arranged to view the seals, dolphins, sharks, penguins,
sea-birds and whales.
