History and Culture
South Africa has been infiltrated by different cultures during it’s lifetime, the French Huguenot settlers introduced the grapevine, however the Afrikaners and the British have had the longest impact on this stunning destination. Each has left a trace of themselves behind which has resulted in a diverse mix of history and culture. More recently while most of Africa had achieved independence by the early 1960s, it took much longer for the southern African colonies to become independent and it was not until 1994 that South Africa itself was returned to her people and governed through majority rule.
