AboutUs

Sun, sand and sea, a thousand Robinson Crusoe Islands dotted over different atolls. Massive lagoons with different depths and infinite shades of blue and turquoise, dazzling underwater coral gardens, a perfect natural combination for the ideal tropical holiday destination. However there is more to the Maldives than just that.

Maldives History and Culture
Legend has it that a prince and his wife, the daughter of the King of today’s Sri Lanka, stopped at Raa Atoll during a voyage and were invited to stay as rulers. Other than Sri Lankan settlers people from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, visited the Maldives. These visitors all left a strong influence on the people, their religion and the culture of the Maldives.

Places of Interest
Other than the water and spa based activities the Maldives offer, you can also visit The Grand Friday Mosque. This is the biggest mosque in the Maldives and can accommodate over five thousand worshippers at any one time. The Friday Mosque is situated in the capital of Male and is a dominant and imposing building with a large golden dome which decorates the Fareast. Other important sites in Maldives Include the tombs of legendary saints, the Presidential Palace, the National Museum in the Sultan Park, which shows the glories of a different era, and the Singapore Bazaar. All these are within a ten-minute stroll.

Activities
When you visit the Maldives you can spend your time learning the art of relaxation or you can enjoy some of the many water based activities this beautiful destination has to offer. Among these are snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, fishing, sailing and even parasailing.

Climate
The Maldives has wonderful sunshine all year round. However there is a significant variation in the monthly rainfall levels. February is the driest with January to April being relatively dry, May and October records the highest average monthly rainfall. The southwest monsoon from May to September is the wet season. Rough seas and strong winds are common during this period. The northeast monsoon falls between December and April. This is a period of clear skies, lower humidity and very little rain.
